The double-acting piston sealing set ZC consists of a rubber-fabric seal with back-up rings on both sides to prevent extrusion. The dynamic surface of the seal on the outer diameter is reinforced with a special dimensionally stable fabric. This supports the development of a lubricating film between the seal and the cylinder wall, even after long standstill periods and under high pressure. This grease deposit reduces breakaway friction and dynamic friction and thus wear of the dynamic surface of the seal. The surface structure ensures wear resistance, even in low-lube conditions. The ZC sealing set is extremely robust, even in harshest conditions such as particle contamination in the system.

A sampling of Parker’s part numbers are shown in the configurator above for select materials and sizes. If the material and dimensions required are not shown, assistance with part number configuration may be found in the literature documents in the Product Support tab. To check current tooling, review the Part Number Look-up document. Contact Parker for requirements outside typical ranges. Parker’s SPP Profile Standard PolyPak® seal is a square cross-section squeeze seal with a symmetrical profile for use in either rod or piston applications in hydraulic systems. The standard Molythane shell (seal body) provides high wear resistance and the O-ring spring energizer element functions as a spring to maintain sealing contact under low pressure. The SPP Profile Standard PolyPak seal utilizes a scraper lip design formed by a precision trimming process. The scraper edge wipes both fluid film and contamination away from the seal. A wide selection of sizes and alternate compounds allow this profile to match up with many hydraulic applications.
Standard Materials (Shell or Seal Body):
Please note: Pressure ratings shown are for predominantly dynamic applications. Where the application is predominantly static, as is typical in Oil & Gas applications, maximum pressure ratings may be extended by a factor of 2 to 3 (or greater), assuming nominal extrusion gap and operating temperature within limits. For assistance, please contact Parker’s application engineering team.

PERFORMANCE ADVANTAGES
Parker’s CT Profile is a robust design for heavy duty hydraulic applications. IT is an excellent choice for sealing mobile hydraulic cylinders in applications that experience shock loads.
The CT Profile is a four-piece assembly made up of a rubber energizer, PTFE cap and two back-up rings. In application, fluid pressure forces the rubber energizer to apply increased load against the PTFE cap and back-up rings. This results in increased sealing force against the bore and allows the back-up rings to close off the extrusion gap between the piston and the bore. Once activated by pressure, the back-up rings protect the seal from extruding and keep internal contamination away from the PTFE cap.
Parker’s CT Profile piston seal will retro-fit non-Parker seals of similar design.
The CT Profile is sold only as an assembly (seal, energizer and back-up rings). The temperature range of the CT profile is limited to the thermal capability of the rubber energizer. A wider temperature range may be achieved by using alternate energizer and back-up ring materials.

For applications with special seal performance and reliability requirements, Parker has developed a PTFE chevron packing set. It is manufactured from PTFE-based compounds and other high-performance polymers using proven FlexiSeal® technology.
A typical PTFE chevron packing set consists of a radial FlexiSeal® followed by several V-rings and a pressure ring. The FlexiSeal® is the primary sealing element. When pressurized, it activates the subsequent V-shaped chevron seals, pushing the sealing lips outward. The numerous sealing edges generated this way reduce the risk of leakage.
The pressure ring ensures that the softer PTFE elements are not pushed into the downstream system gap (gap extrusion).
The chevron packing sets are made of wear-resistant PTFE compounds. The pressure ring typically consists of PEEK.
For the sealing requirements of the oil and gas market, Parker offers a range of materials with NORSOK and NACE approvals. A list of these materials is available on request.
