Parker piston seals for hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders and actuators are designed to separate applied pressure between the piston and the rod side during the stroke movement. They are available as single-acting and double acting seals in a wide range of compound and profile configurations to meet diverse applications: high and low temperatures and pressures, a wide variety of media, harsh operating conditions, various friction requirements, etc. Parker piston seals can cover working temperatures from -50°C to 230°C and working pressures up to 800 bar. Some seal profiles are insensitive to extreme pressure peaks. There are piston seals available that comply with ISO 6020, ISO 5597 and ISO 7425-1 standards.

The PARK-O-PAK® rod seal BA made of wear-resistant Ultrathan® is a compact seal design for hydraulic applications. Due to its symmetric design, the seal can also be used as a piston seal.
The O-ring guarantees the pre-loading of the seal lips, even under low pressures or vacuum. Due to the good setting behavior of the elastomer O-ring, this pre-loading is largely constant. As system pressure increases, compression of the sealing edges rises due to the pressure-dependent deformation of the seal profile. There are three variants of the PARK-O-PAK® product series. The product series BA is suitable for standard grooves, e.g. according to ISO 5597. The product series SA is suitable for axially short compact designs. The product series TA is suitable for radially slim designs, e.g. for telescopic cylinders.

Parker’s Type B PolyPak® (BPP Profile) is a squeeze seal with a symmetrical profile for use in either rod or piston applications in hydraulic systems. The rectangular shape of its cross section ensures stability in the gland.
The standard Molythane shell (seal body) provides high wear resistance and the O-ring energizer element functions as a spring to maintain sealing contact under low pressure or vacuum applications. The bevelled lip design of the Type B PolyPak is excellent for cutting fluid film. The sharp beveled lip is formed by a precision knife trimming process.
A wide selection of sizes and alternate compounds allow this profile to match up with many hydraulic applications. The Type B PolyPak is an economical choice as a stand-alone seal or can be used in tandem with a buffer seal. In piston applications, this seal will function as a unidirectional seal. Dual Type B PolyPak seals should not be installed back-to-back in bi-directional pressure applications, as a pressure trap between the seals may occur. Instead, for bi-directional piston sealing, incorporate a PIP Ring®.

Parker’s 8400 Profile U-cup is a light load, symmetrical lip seal for use in either rod or piston sealing applications. The thin, flexible lip design reacts to low pressure and provides an extremely smooth, steady movement with less break away force required because of the inherent low friction. The 8400 style utilizes a beveled lip, ideal for wiping fluid film. Available in a variety of elastomer compounds to cover a wide range of applications. The 8400 U seal is primarily designed for pneumatic applications to 250 psi, however, it can also be used in low to medium pressure hydraulic applications. The pressure range of the U ring seal may be extended by incorporating an 8700 Series anti-extrusion back-up.

Parker’s FBC-V series FlexiSeal™ is a symmetrical spring-energized PTFE lip seal for rod and piston featuring beveled style lips, and cantilever spring for maximum ID & OD sealing. FlexiSeal profiles utilize a variety of PTFE jacket profiles, spring types and materials. PTFE and other machinable high performance materials of construction are used where elastomeric seals fail to meet an application’s temperature range, chemical resistance or friction requirements and deliver advantages which include:
FBC-V series FlexiSeals are precision machined to fit inch/fractional or metric rod and piston glands. Standard Materials (seal jacket or body):
Spring materials: Medium load cantilever springs are available in corrosion-resistant metal alloys, including stainless steel and Elgiloy.
Alternate Materials: For applications that may require an alternate material, please contact your Parker EPS representative.
Lip Style: The beveled (or chamfered) ID and OD lip shape allows for ease of installation and permits lubrication to nest under the lip and feed through in reciprocating dynamic applications. The result is a microscopic film of lubrication that increases seal and hardware service life. The beveled lip creates a narrow contact footprint which concentrates sealing force on a single point, maximizing sealing ability and minimizing friction.
Pressure Rating: Standard FlexiSeal designs are rated to 3,000 psi when used in glands conforming to the dimensions supplied in Parker’s PTFE Lip Seal Design Guide, Catalog EPS5340, using materials that meet the temperature requirements of the application. Extended heel radial FlexiSeals are available which increase the pressure rating to 10,000 psi under the same conditions.

The Z8 cylinder seal is a single-acting U-ring for pistons in pneumatic cylinders and valves. It is characterized by small axially installed dimensions. The standard range of the Z8 product series conforms to the cylinder diameters acc. to ISO 3320 and CETOP RP 52 P, RP 43 P and RP 53 P.
The Z8 product series is available in both Ultrathan® and rubber compounds. The Ultrathan® versions are characterized by extremely high resistance against wear and pressure peaks.

The KS piston sealing set made of wear-resistant Ultrathan® has been developed specifically for sealing floating pistons in dual media piston-type accumulators. It consists of two U-rings with differences in terms of design and compound. The shape of the seals makes the KS piston sealing set ideally suited for reliable, low-friction separation of different pressure fluids (oil/gas). Other applications include industrial shock absorbers and hydro-pneumatic elements such as feed and braking units, pressure converters, pressure transducers and working cylinders.
Range of application:
For hydraulic piston accumulators. Other applications include industrial shock absorbers and hydropneumatic elements such as feed and braking units, pressure converters, pressure transducers and working cylinders.

The two-piece sealing set consists of a rubber/fabric U-ring and a back-up ring. It is extremely wear-resistant and delivers reliable performance even in the most adverse conditions (water or particle contamination).
Range of application:
Sealing of pistons in hydraulic cylinders. For double-sided pressure loading the seal profile must be used in a back-to-back arrangement.

The single-acting OG piston sealing set featuring a Slipper Seal® design consists of a PTFE piston sealing ring and an elastomer O-Ring as a preloading element. The asymmetrical cross-section of the sealing ring is designed for best drag oil performance during stroke in both directions. The OG sealing set is particularly suitable for single-acting pistons in control cylinders, servo controlled systems, machine tools and quickacting cylinders. Due to the material combination of the slide ring (PTFE) and the O-ring (elastomer), this product is suitable for a wide range of applications, especially for aggressive media and/or high temperatures. Several compounds can alternatively be selected according to the specific application profile.
Range of application:
For high-pressure applications.
